What to bring to your first boxing class
August 30, 2026
The first class is free, and most people who walk in have never boxed before. Here is exactly what to bring and what will happen, so nothing about it is a surprise.
What to bring
- Comfortable athletic clothes — a t-shirt and shorts or joggers.
- Clean indoor shoes. Not the ones you walked in from the street.
- Water and a towel. You will need both.
You do not need gloves. They are available at the gym, so there is nothing to buy before you decide whether this is for you.
What the first class looks like
Warm-up, then stance and footwork, then bag work and conditioning. Robert watches how you move and sets the load for you, not for the group.
The first class is not sparring. Nobody will put you in front of someone who has trained for three years. Getting out of breath and missing the count is normal — that is how everyone starts.
When to come
Group classes run Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The women’s group trains separately on Tuesday and Thursday at 7:30 PM. Kids come at 6:30 PM, the older group and adults at 7:30 PM.
What it costs after the free class
Once a week is $100 a month, twice a week $180, three times $220. A single drop-in class is $30, and one-on-one training is $70 a session. Families with two or more children get 10% off.
The gym is at 390 Pike Rd, Unit 8, Huntingdon Valley, PA. If anything is unclear, message Robert on Instagram — he answers himself.
